STOCKPORT SUCCESS STORY CONTINUES TO GROW

Stockport Success Story Continues To Grow

When it comes to local business, there is a lot to be said for a success story. When a company achieves their aims and ambitions, it is usually something that is of benefit and interest to the local area. It is natural that some people will feel slightly jealous about other people in the same area achieving success but there is usually an acceptance that when one firm in the area prospers, there are benefits to other companies and the local community.

Of course, this may not always last. Sometimes success in the business world can be fleeting and you’ll find people telling you that what goes up, must come down. There is also the fact that sometimes a firm becomes so successful that they need to move up and away from a local area. This can be seen as a slap in the face to the community that provided them with a great start in life, and this is something that can cause a few issues and problems for many people. This is why it is good to see a local firm achieve success and then commit to staying in their area.

Local firm is on the up

This is the case with MusicMagpie, a company that has grown in Stockport but who is now looking to achieve success in the United States of America. The company has agreed a deal to move into the One Stockport Exchange building, snapping up the last floor that was available. The firm, which provides money for unwanted CDs, phones, books, games, DVDs and tech equipment has signed a 10 year lease on a 10,118 sq ft area. Given that the building covers 50,000 sq ft, MusicMagpie will be a significant part of the One Stockport Exchange project.

The plan is for the firm to relocate this summer and there will be 50 employees from the head office moving to the new building. Given that the building is right beside Stockport Railway Station, it has a very convenient location, and there have been big steps forwards taken in recent times in this part of Stockport. Stagecoach have also committed to taking up three floors of the development and before the end of 2017, the travel firm should have 200 employees in One Stockport Exchange.

At Spencer Harvey, we are delighted to see Stockport companies achieve success and we are very pleased to see the rise of Stockport town centre again. One Stockport Exchange is just one of the many projects that are taking place in the town centre, and hopefully there will be a sense of energy and vitality in Stockport that hasn’t been around for some time.
