STOCKPORT STYLE AND TAKING ON SOHO

Stockport Style And Taking On Soho

When it comes to making the most of the developments taking place in Stockport, there is a need to see new businesses come in and create a sense of style and atmosphere in the town. There are high hopes that the food market will flourish and if it does, you will likely see other independent professionals set up in the area. This may be slightly different from the standard shopping options people are used to in Stockport but anything which adds a bit of life to the town has to be seen as a good thing.

There needs to be a balance when it comes to developing a town. There is no need to leave anyone behind and hopefully the people who have made the most of what Stockport has to offer will find that they continue to do so. However, to create a new atmosphere and encourage people to set up in the area, new firms have to set up and it can only be hoped that many more young professionals will follow in the footsteps of Tramp Hair Boutique.

Is Stockport an Instagrammer’s dream?

The salon is set up in the town centre on Little Underbank and in the words of the owners, the salon is “an Instagrammer’s dream.” You can tell immediately that this will split opinion. There will be many people flocking to the boutique to grab a selfie to share with their digital friends but there will also be plenty of people rolling their eyes. You may also find that some people will need to have Instagram explained to them before they get the gist of the conversation!

The duo who run the salon have worked in London and New York and they have worked on a number of famous people. With Noel Fielding, Amy Winehouse and Agyness Deyn all being former clients, this is a hairdressing duo that has worked on some famous barnets in their time and if you haven’t heard of any of these people, you’ll soon recognise Noel Fielding as one of the presenters on The Great British Bake Off when it eventually gits Channel 4.

One of the owners, Naomi, hails from Stockport and the duo are keen to create a new style in the area. They have said that they have set up in Little Underbank because it has a quirky and unique feel and to tie in with their social media presence, they are trying to coin the phrase #StockportSoho. If Stockport can capture any of the glitz and glamour more commonly associated with that area of London, some locals may be in for a shock.

However, the fact that there is a new and exciting business in town, with people willing to take a chance has to be seen as a positive thing. It would be brilliant if this part of town was turned into a place where creative and hard-working people felt they could flourish and we will be keeping an eye on this area, while wishing the new salon every success.
