STOCKPORT COLLEGE CAMPUS CHANGING SOON

Stockport College Campus Changing Soon

The recent developments of Stockport have mainly focused on property and business opportunities but there are also changes being lined up for Stockport College. Computer generated images have shown how the campus, located in Stockport town centre, is set to be transformed with indoor and outdoor social areas being introduced.

It is hoped that the new buildings, which are being developed on Wellington Road South, will be ready and open in time for the 2020/21 year. There is no doubt that a growing level of importance is being placed on the learning environment and making sure that students feel relaxed and comfortable in their place of study. There is a lot of work to be done at Stockport College and the “inadequate” rating from Ofsted, which was issued earlier in 2018, no doubt stung a lot of people.

Stockport College has a role to play in the development of the town

Given that the public face of Stockport is changing rapidly these days, it is vital that the educational offerings in the town are of the same high standard. If you are looking for a link between educational facilities and the property market, you only have to consider the importance of the student market. It may be that that Stockport is the ideal location for some students studying in Manchester but the local educational facility also has a role to play in drawing people to the town.

Some of the new plans for Stockport College include the addition of a new courtyard, a new entrance for visitors and an improved standard of pedestrian access. Plans are also in place for a new business centre, which is likely to have a positive impact and may help to develop stronger links between the College and local businesses.

Business links can bring improved benefits to students at Stockport College

There is a hope that a relationship with the business community can be developed as this will bring money into the college but this style of relationship may create improved study and vocational opportunities for students.

Doug Hann is the Executive Director of Indigo Planning, released a statement about the work being undertaken at Stockport College, saying; “The proposals are an exciting scheme which will regenerate and bring significant improvements to the campus. The site can contribute towards the ambitions of the council’s town centre living development framework, and marks another significant investment in Stockport, alongside the station redevelopment and bus station proposals.”
