MULTI MILLION DEVELOPMENT CHANGING STOCKPORT

Multi Million Development Changing Stockport

A ground-breaking ceremony has started the process that will see 74 new homes coming to a leading location in Stockport. The work is being undertaken by Your Housing Group and Bardsley Construction, a contractor company based in Greater Manchester.

The new development, called Nuvu Covent Garden, is located close to the town centre in Stockport and it is hoped that there will be benefits brought to the London Square part of the town. There will be a mixture of two and three-bedroom houses and apartments and it looks as though there will be rental options, sales and shared ownership deals. This level of flexibility is positive news as it should ensure as many people as possible are able to enjoy the new development.

Local council support in place for the project

The local council are backing the development and a statement was made by Kate Butler, which is the Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council. Kate said; “I’m delighted to see the Nuvu Living Covent Garden project making progress. The scheme will bring a mixture of homes to buy and rent within our town centre, enhancing the local area and playing a significant part in the regeneration programme currently taking place in Stockport.”

Your Housing Group is also very happy with the development and the organisation has been drawing parallels between Stockport and cities like Manchester and London. This may seem like a stretch of the imagination but there is no getting away from the fact that Stockport is an area on the up with developments like this transforming the way that people live their life.

Changing the face of Stockport

There will be work undertaken in London Square to make better use of under-utilised space and there will be properties in Lower Hillgate and Crowther Street demolished to pave the way for new homes. These homes are currently empty. There will also be the removal of former council flats to ensure that the development moves forward at pace.

It is believed that the new development will aim to make the most of the local style and character of the Lowry Steps, which are found close to the Lower Hillgate area. We all know that there has been a significant amount of work being carried out in Stockport these days. There is a total of £1 billion being invested in the programme and there is optimism that there will be 5,000 new jobs brought to Stockport and more than 1,000 new homes.

At Spencer Harvey, we believe the development work in Stockport is having a hugely positive impact and hopefully, many more projects will follow in the near future.
