FUNDING SUPPORT FOR STOCKPORT

Funding Support For Stockport

There has been a boost for Stockport Council, and residents, with a cash injection from a fund, set up to clean up town centres and High Streets. In total, there is a £9.75 million fund on offer with £51,020 heading to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

Local councils work closely with community groups to allocate these funds, and many groups will receive one-off funding to allow them to carry out work. There will be freedom to use the money as they set fit, with many groups looking to invest in items such as brushes, gloves and litter pickings. It is also likely that many groups will spend in funding which will show residents who they can remove graffiti from the area and who they can tackle fly-tipping.

There is backing for family-friendly events and activities

There will be money allocated for enjoyable activities. Therefore, family-focused events will be arranged to bring a community spirit and ensure households have plenty to entertain themselves.

There is a growing interest in local community groups and major events. One upcoming event that will take centre stage in many areas is the Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean Campaign which will run from the 22nd of March to the 23rd of April.

The Communities Secretary Rt Hon James Brokenshire MP has released a statement, saying; “High streets are at the centre of our communities, and like places that are well loved, they sometimes need a bit of a spruce up to look their very best. That’s why we will be providing councils with £9.75 million to work with community groups who need that extra money to give their local high street a spring clean, making sure their town centres are really spick and span.”

Stockport is a town on the rise

Given the improvements in Stockport town centre of late, there is no denying a lot has changed in the town. However, there is a need for continual improvement, and while Stockport is on the up, it never hurts to maintain this development.

There is a need for residents to buy into the changes, but there is a strong sense of community in the town. Stockport is a friendly town, and there is a sense of togetherness. Therefore, it is likely that many people will be keen to work together to create a more appealing local environment. As a local estate agent who cares about the community, we look forward to the positive impact on Stockport.
