FIX UP PROPERTIES IN DEMAND

Fix Up Properties In Demand

When you sell your property, it is always best to know what buyers are looking for in your area. No matter what you think of your home, it is what prospective buyers think that matter, and if you can provide these people with a home that meets their needs, you are more likely to sell in an effective manner. At Spencer Harvey, we have helped many vendors sell their home, so we know what local buyers are looking for, but it is important to be aware that the market is always evolving.

A recent study indicates that an increasing number of buyers are happy to purchase a “fix up” home as opposed to looking for their dream property. Over 80% of respondents have said they are happy to find a home that requires upgrades and improvements. There was even 40% of respondents who said they would be happy to purchase a home that was in very poor condition and which required a significant amount of work. With less than 10% of respondents saying they were looking for a perfect home, it appears the demand for property is causing some buyers to lower their standards.

Buyers are keen to get on or move up the property ladder

This doesn’t mean homeowners should deliberately allow their home to fall into disrepair before placing it on the market, but it should provide more confidence to vendors in going to market. It is still advisable to make repairs and improvements if you can but if this is beyond your reach, say through a lack of time or suitable finances, it is still possible to sell your home effectively.

In buying homes of a lower quality or in need of some work, buyers lower the price they pay up-front. Given the pressures associated with finding a deposit, anything which minimises the amount of money a buyer spends in the initial process is likely to be welcomed and it is easy to see why there has been a movement like this in the property market.

Demand for homes in Stockport is high

Given that the demand for property generally outstrips the supply of property in the property market, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. In Stockport, we have witnessed many changes in recent times and this is a town that is on the up. There are many new property developments taking shape across the local area, but these can’t match the demand. If you are a resident of Stockport and you are thinking about selling your home, you will find that people are interested.

As Stockport property specialists, we are here to make a difference.
