FACEBOOK RENTAL LISTINGS TO SHAPE MARKET?

Facebook Rental Listings To Shape Market?

Many estate agents have used Facebook to develop their following and share information about properties they have available to buy or let. With this platform being the leading social media platform and the place where most people seem to socialise and chat, it is only natural that companies want to be where their audience is found. However, recent changes may mean that Facebook is about to become even more important for estate agents and firms who have rental property listings to share with the world.

This is because rental properties in the UK are now going to be listed on the Facebook. This has happened in the United States of America for a while and it has been deemed a success, so it is probably no surprise that it is now available on this side of the Atlantic. It looks as though there will be close to 300,000 rental property listings from the Zoopla Property Group, or ZPG, and agents who are part of the OnTheMarket group.

Looking for rental accommodation? Social media could welcome you home

The users that are on Facebook looking for rental accommodation will be able to sort the listings by a range of search criteria and then they can contact the agent directly with respect to the property that they are keen to view or consider. It is likely that this will have an impact on the market and it remains to be seen whether the firms that aren’t able to promote or present on Facebook will be limited by this move.

Some firms will benefit quickly from this move

Charlie Bryant is the Managing Director of ZPG Property Services and he said; “This is great news for our agent members who will now get wider distribution of their listings as well as increased brand exposure with people looking for property to rent on Facebook Marketplace. We will continue to provide our agent partners with maximum exposure for their listings and brands along with the widest range of services to help them generate additional leads and revenues.”

The Brand Director of OnTheMarket, John Milson, said; “People can [now] search Facebook Marketplace in the UK and connect with our agents, who update their listings data frequently to ensure accurate availability and pricing." We look forward to working with Marketplace to create world-class value for property-seekers and value for both of our businesses."

We aim to keep in touch with all aspects of the property and rental market, and this is likely to have a considerable influence on the rental market across the country.
