CITY CENTRE GROWTH DRIVES OTHER AREAS

City Centre Growth Drives Other Areas

You can see why so many young people desire to live in the heart of Manchester. Being close to work, their place of study, their friends, and so many fantastic bars, clubs and restaurants will always appeal to people. Therefore, it should be no surprise to learn Manchester city centre is thriving concerning welcoming the younger generation.

Property investment in the city is on the increase, and there is growth in the range of build-to-rent apartments on offer in the city centre. Not only do these properties provide an opportunity for people to find suitable accommodation, but there is also a significant opportunity for landlords and property investors.

People are moving to the heart of Manchester

According to JJL, in July of 2019, the increase in people moving into Manchester city centre apartments was 117% on the previous year’s figure. The Head of North West Residential at JLL, Louise Emmott, said; “Manchester is becoming increasingly in demand as a city, as young people are priced out of the capital and businesses look to north-shore parts or all of their offices. It has so much to offer – it’s teeming with culture, sport, a world-class food and drink scene and a booming night-time economy. This, paired with the area’s impressive business credentials, means that it’s hugely appealing to younger generations that want the big city feel but can’t afford or access London.”

The increase in youngsters moving to the city centre correlates with an increase in businesses operating in Manchester. Between 2014 and 2018, the number of companies operating in Manchester increased by 58%. By 2021, it is believed there will be an additional 16,300 new jobs created in the city. Manchester is recognised as the fastest-growing city in the United Kingdom, and the increase in employment is an excellent news for everyone.

Of course, this isn’t just positive news for the heart of Manchester; it is positive news for towns around the city. Stockport is exceptionally well connected to Manchester, and any boost in employment is likely to offer some benefit to Stockport.
