BREXIT DELAY INCREASES BUYER INTENT

Brexit Delay Increases Buyer Intent

Uncertainty doesn’t help the property market, and of course, there is still a considerable amount of uncertainty regarding Brexit. However, with a new October deadline and the prospect of a No Deal Brexit diminishing, it appears as though there are more positivity and optimism in the property market. A few industry experts have voiced an opinion that things are looking up and that there has been an increase in buyer intent.

A London based agency, Winkworth, has gone public on their thoughts regarding how the market has reacted to changes in the Brexit outlook. The company says that as soon as a softer Brexit emerged as a feasible option, buyer interest rose significantly. It is claimed their agency witnessed an increase of 26.8% more applicants registering since the 22nd of March with the firm stating there was an increase of 23.5% in sales over the same period.

Instructions have also risen, so it is understandable that the company believes that the property market is on the rise again after a period of doubt and uncertainty.

Vendors can get involved with the market

With an increase in buyer demand, it is time for vendors to consider their role in the market. A lot of homeowners have held off from selling their home because they didn’t believe people were looking to buy a property. This opinion may be changing, and it could be that many more buyers are interested in making a move. Therefore, it would be prudent for many homeowners to consider their options and selling their home could be an option.

Dominic Agace is the Chief Executive of Winkworth and he said; “Now that Brexit has been pushed back and a 'no deal' is less likely, people are able to relax more and this has led to a significant increase in applicants registering their interest to buy a property with us. With this underlying demand, we strongly believe that sales will start to pick up this year and market confidence will resume, but to do that, sellers need to see the benefits of putting their home on the market after what has been a turbulent time for the property market.”
